The Jersey Shore might have been a TV show on MTV, but it’s been a place where families love to go on vacation, way before those youngsters ever appeared on MTV! Jersey Shore is so popular and millions of people head to the Shore every single year because it has a lot of fun activities, but it’s also the quintessential beach vacation. It’s about as iconic and American as you can get when it comes to a get away! One of the best ways to get to the Shore is by driving there yourself, especially if you live in the outer states around New Jersey such as New York, Pennsylvania or Maryland.
Best Ways to Get To Jersey Shore
If you ARE lucky enough to be one of the 6 or so states around New Jersey you can just get a car rental from wherever you are and drive to the Jersey Shore. It takes but a few hours in the car to get from one of the outlying states to Jersey - so it’s a great trip for a road trip because it’s not so long to where its going to be ultra-tiring, but it’s just far enough to feel like you’re actually going on vacation somewhere. You can also take an Amtrak train from a few states, Pennsylvania for example, has a train that goes from Penn Station all the way out to Jersey, but it only goes as far as Atlantic City, then you would have to get to a place for a car rental in New Jersey and drive to Jersey Shore - it’s about a 30 min drive depending on the traffic!
Jersey Shore Beach-Time
One of the biggest reasons people visit places like Maryland and New Jersey is because of the beach scene - which people love. But, not everyone can afford the time or money to go all the way to California or Florida to see the beach, so this is really the next best thing. Jersey Shore has a few different beaches which might interest you. The first one is Sandy Hook and it goes all the way down to Long Beach Island in the South. Jersey Shore beach is a 40 minutes ferry ride from Wall Street and best of all, the ferry will pick you up and take you directly to the beach in the summer time on both Saturdays and Sundays. Other beaches to check out are Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Seaside Heights and Island Beach State Park.
